Summer Solstice

I have long enjoyed picking up ideas from the Circle Sanctuary site.  With a bonfire ring in my own backyard, I always look forward to celebrating many a night around a fire with our friends!

As well, Mike Nichols provides interesting thought on rituals pertaining to this time of year.

For me, though, simply enjoying the arrival of summer in my own backyard, doing things that I love to do--which always have me connecting with nature--is my most favorite celebration (and one that many people seem to enjoy, as noted on one of my favorite season-oriented sites).

Finally, my most favorite, crisp and refreshing summer cocktail?  Vodka on the rocks with healthy squeezes of fresh orange, lemon and lime, and splash of club soda.  It's not exactly a local concoction due to the citrus elements (the vodka, while pricey, is made next door in Maine with their own potatoes), but every once in a while I get weak.

Have a great summer, and don't forget- leave your dogs at home when you head out to do errands!  Hot cars are no place for them.
